I create needle-felted works using undyed Icelandic fleece imported from Iceland, translating my own black and white photographs into wool. Working only with the fleece’s natural tones- from cream through grey to near-black- I build up tonal depth and detail by repeatedly stabbing the fibres with a barbed needle, sculpting light and shadow directly into the wool without dye or paint.
